Julie Sabin Academy

Sabin Academy of Firearms Education is a women-led, USCCA-certified firearms training academy serving Omaha, Nebraska and the surrounding 30-mile area.

Our courses are conducted in a friendly, judgment-free environment that emphasizes safety and correct technique. Whether you are brand new to handguns or an experienced shooter, our training meets you where you are. Co-ed classes are open to women and men, including friends, couples, and individuals who want to learn together in a structured, respectful setting. For students who prefer it, our women-only classes are taught by women, providing an added level of comfort and support.

Our mission is to give every student, with a special emphasis on women and new gun owners, the knowledge and confidence to protect themselves and their families. We pair safe handling and shooting fundamentals with situational awareness, the legal use of force, and the realities of a violent encounter so students leave class prepared, not just informed.

Where We Train

We hold our in-person and live-fire training at The Bullet Hole Indoor Range in La Vista, Nebraska, Omaha’s original indoor shooting range. Proud to partner with their team for a safe, welcoming place to train.

Meet Julie

Born in Des Moines, Iowa and raised in Sibley, Julie has been involved with firearms her entire life. After college she enjoyed a diverse and rewarding career that included farming, new home construction, radio and television, 3-D film animation, computer support, database marketing, business analysis, and data science. She retired during the COVID era.

Following a long recovery and the loss of her husband of 26 years (an NRA instructor and gunsmith), Julie chose to pursue her lifelong dream of becoming a firearms instructor. After earning numerous certifications from multiple nationally recognized organizations, she founded Sabin Academy of Firearms Education.

Whether you are brand new to handguns or an experienced shooter, Sabin Academy provides a relaxed, welcoming, and respectful environment with a strong emphasis on safety, professionalism, and practical education.
